Escaping Prosperity Gospel

I’ve often wanted to hear from someone who grew up in the grip of the Prosperity Gospel and found their way out. Here’s an article from someone who reached escape velocity from one of its central families. Great read. May God deliver more.

  1. Grew up with this all around me – My beliefs are not prosperity based but the lies about how I can influence my health and wealth still can be used by Satan to try to convince me I am not faithful enough to God and that is why things are the way they are – the damage of the prosperity lies must be undone with truth but it may take a life time to find and then address all of them

    • I grew up without the prosperity stuff but I still wonder. Jesus did say that faith has a lot to do with it. I don’t want to throw out any babies with the theological bathwater, so it’s an interesting investigation for sure.

      • I believe the problem is when we try to define prosperity in our terms rather than making God’s plan true prosperity. Paul said he had learned to be content in poverty and riches and yet he had seen God do miricles – it is always a tough one to figure out the limits God has put on what our faith can do when it comes to changing our situation but that should never stop us from naming it, claiming it and then letting God be God
